The illustration consists of a frontispiece and a title vignette (repeated in the first two volumes), and 8 copper-engraved folding plates, representing the various monuments of Venice, some costumes of the dogees and their wives, the last plate representing the Solemnity of the Bucentaurus which is celebrated in Venice on Ascension Day (Bucentaurus, Doge's ship, gondola of the Nuncio, etc.).
