MEDICINE AUENBRUGGER (Leopold) & CORVISART (Jean Nicolas). New method for recognizing internal diseases of the chest by percussion of this cavity. Work translated from Latin and commented by J. N. Corvisart. Paris, Migneret, 1808. In-8 of XXIII-[1]-440 pp. + [1] f. of errata. Half tan basane, smooth spine, gilt fillets, gilt title (period binding). First edition of the translation. Spine faded. Second French edition (after the original Latin edition of 1761 and the first French edition translated by Rozière de la Chassagne in 1770), the first of the translation by Corvisart. Auenbrugger's discovery went unnoticed in his time and fell into oblivion, before Corvisart's translation and commentary brought it to light again 38 years later.
