SMET (Pierre-Jean de). Missions in Oregon and travels in the Rocky Mountains in 1845 and 1846. Work translated from English by M. Bourlez. Paris and Lyon, Poussielgue-Rusand, and Pelagaud, 1848. In-12 green basane, smooth spine decorated, cold decoration on the boards with gilt fillet, marbled tr. (binding of the time). Frontispiece, illustrated title and 12 figures out of text engraved on stained background. Some foxing. Work by Father de Smet of the Saint-Paul mission intended to evangelize the Skioelpi Indians, translated from English by M. Bourlez, decorated with 14 lithographs, representing portraits, views and hunting scenes. His account is completed with prayers in six native languages, a list of plants of the Rocky Mountains, a vocabulary, a comparative table of Indian and Asian languages and excerpts from American newspapers greeting the release of the work.
