1840. Reign of H.M. Thieu Tri (1840-1847).... - Lot 106 - Lynda Trouvé
1840. Reign of H.M. Thieu Tri (1840-1847). Very rare and large covered bowl on an octagonal base, on the model of the European forms, in copper with polychrome enamel and gold decoration on a turquoise blue background of 4 dragons with 5 claws moving in the clouds and sacred pearls. The piedouche is decorated with floral scrolls, the borders are decorated with a frieze of stylized Tam Son. The cup and its lid are marked in gold ideograms "Thieu Tri Nien Tao" (made during the reign of Thieu Tri). This decoration associating the 4 imperial dragons from the front is typical of this period and made by the best artists of the imperial workshop in Hué. (Phap Lam Ty Tuong Cuc). White enamelled interior (hair, splinters). Height: 19 cm. Diameter: 18 cm. (Enamel jumps and small restorations). This type of manufacture knows its golden age during the reigns of S.M Thieu Tri and at the beginning of the reign of S.M Tu Duc (1847-1883). The turquoise-blue background is a technical feat and an innovation of this period.
