ÉVARISTE JONCHÈRE (1892-1956). - Lot 132
ÉVARISTE JONCHÈRE (1892-1956). First Grand Prix de Rome for sculpture in 1925. Indochina Prize in 1932. Director of the École des Beaux-Arts d'Indochine in 1938. D'AL-AL. Head in plaster, unsigned. Height: 32 cm. Provenance: Jonchère-Debiol Collection. D'Al-Al was a young mixed-race dancer from Martinique, goddaughter of the Orientalist writer Myriam Harry. Jonchère executed this portrait in 1931, once again delivering a classic work of full, stylized volumes imbued with great delicacy.
