Bruno DUFOURMANTELLE (1949) Le murmure du... - Lot 105 - Lynda Trouvé
Bruno DUFOURMANTELLE (1949) Le murmure du cyclope. Large oil and paper on canvas, signed, titled and dated September 1987 on the back. Dimensions: 200x180 cm. In an article for Beaux-Arts magazine in April 1988, Dufourmantelle describes his vision of painting as "a way of bringing matter down to the level of the senses". What he seeks through the act of painting is to penetrate the mystery of his own emotions. Only painting seems capable of seizing emotion by abolishing the contradictions between impulses and concepts. First comes light, which the artist translates by integrating small pieces of paper into her still-fresh paint, creating a play between matte and gloss. Then comes the color, which the artist applies mainly with her fingers, the act of creation returning to a primitive process "like the trace of a footstep in the earth". Between light and color, an encounter between abstraction and appearance takes place. Biography: Galerie Nikki Diana Marquardt, Paris. Solo exhibition in 1986, followed by "Les masques de Dieu" exhibition in 1987. Prix Médicis Hors les murs in 1988.
