Tunisia. Order of Nichan Al Iftikhar, founded around 1837 and modified in 1857, officer's jewelry attributed to Lamine Bey. Metal star with ten green and red enameled and alternating branches on a radiant sun background decorated with diamond points. The domed center features the Arabic signature of the reigning bey, in this case Lamine Bey (1943-1956), on a green enamel background. With its yellow silk ribbon, edged with two vertical red stripes. Diameter: 5.7 cm. The Nichan Iftikhar or Nichan al Iftikhar, from the Turkish Iftikhar (Order of Pride), is an ancient Tunisian honorary order desired between 1835 and 1837 by Mustapha Bey and actually formalized by Ahmed I Bey, then Bey of Tunis. This first order, by virtue of its creation date, was awarded for civil and military services to both Tunisian and foreign nationals.
