Part of an 18K (750 °/°°) gold repoussé and engraved plaque depicting Christ pantocrator. Seated and blessing with his right hand, he holds a book in his left hand, head with cruciform nimbus, hallmarked background in a molded hexagonal surround. Spain, 13th century. Height: 14 cm. Width : 11.5 cm. Weight: 18.4 g. This plaque would have adorned the front of a casket or reliquary. The presence of the blessing Christ places this plaque at the center of a larger composition.
