Émile-Louis PICAULT (1833-1915). Ad Lumen. Sculpture in bronze with shaded medallic patina. Signed on the base. Cast by "Émile Colin & Compagnie, Paris". Height : 60.5 cm. Width : 22 cm. Depth : 27 cm. Resting on a square molded wooden base adorned with an engraved brass cartel: "Offered to M. le Docteur Pezet, former mayor of Montpellier, by the staff of all municipal services as a token of respectful gratitude". Total height: 70.5 cm. A physician and pharmacist, Paul Pezet (1848-1938) became a general councillor, city councillor, then First Deputy Mayor before heading the City of Montpellier from 1901 to 1904, and from 1908 to 1919. He then pursued a national political career as deputy for Hérault from 1914 to 1919.
