Bianhu "pilgrim's gourd" vase in blue-white porcelain. The body is richly decorated with foliage and stylized flowers in blue underglaze, the neck encircled by a frieze of ruyi flanked by two dragons with four claws in high relief forming handles. The lower part is decorated with alternating palms. China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century. Height: 53.5 cm. Provenance: Collection of Monsieur François Lavelaine de Maubeuge, aspirant first class and Captinaine de vaisseau in 1898. Missioned to the Far East squadron in 1906 and Officer of the Legion of Honor. In the family by descent.
