Pair of Canton porcelain baluster vases. The body is decorated with reserves depicting palace scenes amid a rich décor of flowers, insects, butterflies and scholar's objects. The base of the scalloped neck is embellished with gilded salamanders in relief. The flared neck is encircled by two chimera-shaped handles in relief. The curved lip is also decorated with a frieze of flowers and foliage on a gold background. China, Canton, second half of the 19th century. Height: 33 cm. (The bottom is pierced).
