A baluster vase in iron-red porcelain with gold highlights, the body richly decorated with a profusion of floral and geometric motifs framing reserves. The front depicts an immortal straddling a phoenix, and the back a dragon and phoenix confronting each other amidst clouds. The neck has two handles and is bordered by a frieze of Greek motifs. Seven-character mark on the base. Japan, Kutani kilns, Meiji Era (1868-1912). Height: 36 cm. (Neck restored and glued back together).
