Porcelain dish decorated with a lakescape in a quadrangular reserve surrounded by four curvilinear sides on a cobalt blue background of hexagonal motifs and wrapped Taoist symbols. Copper-rimmed lip. Ornamented top left with a calligraphic poem from the "Preface to the Prince Teng Pavilion" by Wang Bo (650-676), translating as "The imposing Dang Vuong pavilion leans against the river bank". Bich Ngoc two-character mark under the base, literally "sapphire". China for Vietnam, late 18th-early 19th century. Diameter: 17.5 cm. (Crack).
