REIGN OF S.M. EMPEROR THIEU TRI (1840-1847). Covered tripod box in enamels on phap lam copper. Of poly-lobed form imitating the petals of a lotus, the rim richly decorated with dragons on a yellow background chasing the sacred pearl among the clouds. The upper part is decorated with bats. The circular lid features two five-clawed dragons in the clouds, surrounding the central grip encircled by stylized lotus petals in the taste of porcelain productions from the Jiaqing and Daoguang periods. Thieu Tri four-character sigillary mark under the base. Vietnam, Hué imperial palace workshops, 19th century, Thieu Tri period (1840-1847). Height: 9 cm. Diameter: 18.5 cm. (Restorations).
