Rare torque necklace in 14K (585°/°°) gold with chased floral motifs. The inner part is finely incised with an inscription in classical Chinese 癸酉年月十五日八品阮槐記洋金並南金重 specifying that the jewel was made "on the 15th day of the 15th month of the Guiyou year", corresponding to the 15th day of August 1933. In all likelihood, part of the inscription was added later and corresponds to a gold control. Indochina, 1933. Diameter: 14.9 cm. Net weight: 53.4 g. Provenance: Believed to have come from the collection of Madame P.'s father-in-law, a military physician to the Imperial Court of Annam.
