- Asian panther or leopard skin rug (species: Panthere pardus).
Set consisting of a panther skin lined with red fabric. Red fabric, with bangs, was widely used in the creation of skin rugs between the end of the 19th century and the 1950s. The wear of the fabric and the discoloration of the red indicate an old fabric. In addition, the taxidermy (especially on the head, with the use of plaster painted on the inside and glass eyes) and the use of natural fiber yarn indicate naturalization prior to 1930.
Dimensions: 180x125 cm.
(Fair condition, small teeth missing from the jaw, broken tongue and traces of resumption at the base).
Provenance: Georges Jacquolot, working for the Indochina customs service. In the family by descent.
