Five wrought-iron chatelaine hooks in the form of figures holding a ring. French work, 18th century. Length: 5 cm. (Oxidized and missing in places). This type of hook was used as early as the 18th century to hang knives, balls or sewing kits, then developed rapidly throughout the 18th century before being forgotten in the early 19th century. Back in fashion in the mid-nineteenth century, châtelaines diversified enormously.
