Set of nine civil servant badges in silk and metallic threads, comprising three pairs, one depicting silver pheasants (5th row) and one wild geese (4th row) embroidered on gauze, the last pair in kesi showing wild geese, two badges depicting a wild goose (one on silk), and the last depicting a golden pheasant (2nd row) on silk, mounted on Western fabric; some applied animals, all amidst clouds and above the waves, some surrounded by auspicious Buddhist and Taoist emblems, framed by a decorative border.
China, Qing dynasty, late 19th century.
