The body and sleeves are richly embroidered with bats, infinite knots and baxijiang (eight Buddhist emblems) in Peking stitch: the conch shell (luo) for good fortune, the ceremonial parasol (san), a badge of dignity, the pair of fish (yu) for domestic harmony and marital happiness, the flaming wheel (falun). China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century. Height: 105.5 cm. Length: 170 cm. (Silk slightly insolated, wear).
