Tokyo school.
Important ivory statue of the goddess Kannon. The richly adorned deity depicted standing on a lotus flower holding a swastika vase in her right hand and herbs in her left. Her face is serene, her hair up in a bun adorned with a tiara, her garment incised with floral motifs, revealing pearl belts and pendants.
Two-character mark in red under the base 龍堂 or Ryūdō.
Japan, Meiji Era (1868-1912).
