Black lacquer glove box with takamaki-e decoration of an orchid flanked by a calligraphic scroll from which a snail descends. Japan, Meiji Era (1868-1912). Length: 39 cm. Width: 12 cm. Depth: 4 cm. (Wear, small chips). Also included: A pair of white leather ladies gloves for evening wear "EAS Florence". Circa 1900.
