ECOLE DES ARTS APPLIQUES DE GIA DINH. Rare and important lot of works by students of the Gia Dinh School of Applied Arts, comprising woodcuts, engravings and tracings: - In one portefolio, a set of engravings, woodcuts on various themes including commerce, travel, science, industry, nature, progress etc. - In a second portefolio, a similar set of woodcuts and tracings, many signed Nguyen Van Tuan, Hiêp, H.T. and others. Several series titled in pencil, including vaccination (Pasteur), property and money, social life, the Tet ceremony, the family, physical life, the sciences, "human races", letters and the arts, work. The series are numbered, and the whole is extensively annotated with a professor's corrections in pencil. - Two woodcuts signed in the plate and countersigned in the margin, one dedicated "to the friend Virol, Bien amicalement". The first depicts a harvest scene in Tonkin, the second a satyr surrounded by young bacchantes. Dimensions: 29x22.4 cm. - Also included: 8 stereoscopic photographs including a view of the Nam Giao ceremony in Hué on April 13, 1939 and various shots of colonial life between 1939 and 1940.
