Important orange silk banner, finely embroidered with metallic and polychrome silk threads, depicting Shou Lao holding his gnarled immortal staff in the center, accompanied by a young woman holding a ruyi scepter in her left hand and a deer. The central scene flanked by the eight immortals. The upper part is decorated with a front-facing Annam dragon, holding the sacred pearl, surrounded by two phoenixes and protecting a quadrangular cartouche with four characters. The lower part is decorated with fô dogs playing with the sacred pearl. The background richly embroidered with auspicious symbols, bats and clouds. Indochina, Vietnam, early 20th century. Length: 334 cm. Width: 140 cm. (Some wear and tear, slightly tapered at top and bottom).
