Reunion of two exotic wood wedding or betel set boxes decorated with mother-of-pearl inlays.
One is decorated within a double circle with blossoming flowers and butterflies. The rim is adorned with calligraphic poems and flowering branches with squirrels, and the rim is encircled in metal.
The second is decorated with crickets among flowers. The central medallion features four characters and is surrounded by a frieze of vines and grapes. The rim is decorated with floral motifs and birds.
Indochina, late 19th/early 20th century.
Height: 12 cm. Diameters: 27.3 cm and 26.5 cm.
