Léo PUTZ (1869-1940). Woman on a Couch. Oil sketch on canvas board, signed lower right. Size: 27x35 cm. (Folding, restorations). A German-born painter who worked in Paris and Munich between the two centuries, Léo PUTZ is one of the representatives of Jugendstil painting. After studying at the Munich School of Fine Arts, Putz briefly attended the Académie Julian before joining the Munich Secession in 1897. Here, he became a portraitist of the Belle Époque, illustrating new leisure activities, boating, seaside pleasures and bourgeois interiors.
