Famille rose porcelain covered ginger pot, decorated with pe - Lot 317
Famille rose porcelain covered ginger pot, decorated with peonies and a golden pheasant, adorned with a calligraphic poem: 花落家童未拂,莺啼山客犹眠。X乙丑之夏日。Translating: "The flowers have fallen, but the young servant of the house has not yet swept them away. The oriole sings, and the mountain traveler still slumbers, Summer 1925, by Wang Bishun汪碧顺". Wang Bishun (1874-1955) was a Chinese painter renowned for his imperial portraits and court paintings during the Qing dynasty, blending documentary finesse with artistic elegance. The lid is named after the Chinese painter and calligrapher Zhu Da (八大山人, 1626-1705), in homage to his expressive inks and lyrical compositions blending nature, birds and flowers, as well as his singular style, imbued with personal sensitivity and subtle symbolism. China, early 20th century. Height: 32.5 cm, presented on a carved, openwork wooden base. (Slight firing defects).
