- André Schoeller Collection (1879-1955), famous art dealer, expert and collector in Paris, particularly in the 1920s and 1930s.
This mask does not appear in Gaston Migeon's 1905 catalog "Masterpieces of Japanese Art" (a mistake?), but three other masks from Schoeller's collection are well illustrated in Migeon. These came from the famous Japanese art collections of Charles Haviland and Louis Gonse, sold in Paris in 1922 and 1924.
