Pierre Mirande (1869-19...) mentions this cave as early as 1893 in his article Grottes de Pung : notes pour contribuer à l'étude de la géographie du Tonkin, taken from Bulletin de Géographie historique et descriptive no. 3. Charles Rabot , in his manual général de l'instruction primaire published in 1894, also mentions the existence of this cave, a very long tunnel with numerous ramifications, in the middle of the mountains near the Ba-Be lakes in Tonkin.
