Jean Delpech (1916–1988) - Lot 141
Jean Delpech (1916–1988) Indochina School of Fine Arts (1934–1935). Prix de Rome, 1948. The Clear River. (Upper Tonkin). Ink and black chalk on paper, framed under glass, signed, inscribed with location, and dated “43” in the lower right corner. Dimensions: 23.8 x 31.3 cm (visible area). A French marine painter, postage stamp designer, engraver, and illustrator, Jean Delpech lived in Indochina until 1935, where his father was an architect. This highly detailed composition, typical of Delpech’s talents as a draftsman, evokes a foreshortened and phantasmagorical vision.
