A large number of books on the theme of Parisian life, entertainment and fashion including: - Modes - JANET (Gustave). Artistic fashion. Paris, Bureaux de la Mode artistique, sd (c. 1865). In-4 red percaline, gold title on the plate. Damaged back with lacks, freckles in places. 22 colour-engraved fashion plates. From the collection of the Callot sisters, who founded the eponymous fashion house in 1895. They formed the great designer Madeleine Vionnet. Cold stamped on several plates by Pierre Gerber, son of Marie Callot-Gerber, who took over the house as director and designer in 1928. Seriously affected by the crisis of 1929, the Callot sisters' house was bought in 1938 by the Calvet house before closing its doors for good in 1953. - Photograph - PARIS-THEATRE. 84 issues (not followed) of Paris-Théâtre from 1873 to 1878 and 73 issues of Paris-Portrait (formerly Paris-Théâtre) from 1878 and 1879, bound in 2 vols. in folio half calf red ep., spine ribbed (qqs small rubbed). 1873-1879.
