Private and personal collection of textiles from the sixteenth to the nineteenth century of Mr. Bernard Pansu, President of the manufacture weavings De La Lys in Halluin, third generation at the helm. Passionate collector of textiles from the Renaissance to the Second Empire, Bernard Pansu has been lulled since his youngest age in the universe of furnishing textiles. Indeed, the PANSU factory, created by his great-grandfather Jules Pansu in 1878, is renowned for its wall tapestries created by the best workers in France and still woven today in Halluin in Flanders, in the great French tradition. The ensemble presented at the sale gathers mainly silk fabrics coming from court dresses, liturgical ornaments, seat trimmings and hangings. These archival documents of all sizes, glued on cardboard for the most part, represented for the textile factories a kind of library offering an infinite variety of patterns and colors serving as inspiration for the designers and weavers for new creations. For the curious, the more than 300 documents offered form a complete panorama of the history of taste for interior decoration and fashion over nearly 500 years
