JAPAN Lot of three calligraphies including : - Ryokan Taigu (1758-1831), famous monk and hermit, Japanese poet and calligrapher. Allegory of an elegant idle woman compared to the orchid under a bamboo in the valley. Calligraphy poem in black ink on cut paper and framed. Signed lower left Ryokan. Another known copy is kept at the Ryokan Memorial Museum. Size : 23x16,5 cm (Folds and stains). - Ikkyu Sojun (1394-1481) The Five Virtues Calligraphy of the Buddhist text of the Five Virtues of Confucianism. Signed lower right by the monk Ikkyu Sojun.
