Rare double gourd vase quadripod silver 800... - Lot 148 - Lynda Trouvé
Rare double gourd vase quadripod silver 800 ° / ° ° with relief decoration of a chased dragon flying over the tumultuous waves and hunting the sacred pearl, the neck decorated with palms and a frieze of stylized scrolls. The rest of the decoration embellished with bamboo, lotus and flowers in full bloom finely chiseled in relief. Signed under the base "S Siên, Hué" and countersigned in ideograms. By the quality of its decoration and its original form inspired by porcelain, this vase produced in Hue is a real tour de force on the part of the master goldsmith. The reliefs, unlike the usual productions of the period, were not produced by carving and denting in the mass but by the addition of delicate silver plates finely chiseled. The extremely fine work required perfect technical mastery in order not to break the fine silver leaf. Indochina, Hué work. End of the 19th-beginning of the 20th century. Height: 15,5 cm. Weight: 216,2 gr. (dent and missing).
