Important batch of coins. - Lot 142
Important batch of coins. Vietnamese coins. Nearly 1,000 currencies covering almost the entire monetary history of Vietnam. All these coins come either from chance finds - the Vietnamese used to bury their monetary reserves in terracotta jars - or from archaeological excavations in which Dr. Sallet, corresponding member of the Ecole Française d'Extrême-Orient, participated. As a result, their authenticity is guaranteed. Partly sorted collection, quite interesting and of a certain historical interest for lovers of ancient Indochina. Chinese coins. Eventually, he ended up holding a considerable collection of about 7,000 coins of the greatest interest. Provenance: Albert Sallet fonds (1877-1948). Military doctor in Indochina. Co-founder in 1913 of the Association des amis du Vieux Hué with Léopold Cadière, of the Foreign Missions of Paris. Corresponding member of the École française d'Extrême-Orient. After leaving the Army, he became Curator of the Cham Art M
